Founding Story
When Clara was pregnant with her daughter, she became acutely aware of what she was putting in and on her body. Clara focused on avoiding toxins and plastics, and there seemed to be thoughtful alternatives in nearly every category - from food to personal care to home cleaning. But when it came to water, things got murky.
She couldn’t make sense of what was actually in our tap water, and the more Clara learned about bottled water, the worse it got. What started as an effort to protect her growing family quickly became an urgency to create something better. That’s how Loonen was born.
Loonen is here to lead with purity and transparency and hopes to play a small part in shaping better health outcomes for generations to come.

Clara Sieg is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Loonen, a consumer health startup focused on contaminant-free bottled water, based in San Francisco, California. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Stanford University before beginning her professional career in the Financial Sponsors and Leveraged Finance group at UBS Investment Bank. In 2010, Sieg became a founding member and Partner at Revolution Ventures, where she opened the firm's San Francisco office and helped raise $350 million across two early-stage venture funds. During her tenure in venture capital, she executed 11 investments and served on the corporate boards of several portfolio companies, including Policygenius and Framebridge. After more than a decade of early-stage investing in consumer technology and fintech, Sieg is currently focused on developing health and wellness products for the consumer market.
